The monster theme is very interesting for me a lot of time ago and when I tried to thinkig about that, what means this topic to me, what or who is mine monsters, then I imagined them for little creatures with difference personalities, who are the outcasts of society.
Daniel Keyes’s book inspirated me mostly: The Minds of Billy Milligan. This is a truth story about a man, who had multiple personality disorder. These personalities had difference qualities, ages, talents and field of interest. By one part, the psychologists ashed him, what is happening in his mind, if the personalities change each other. His description was that, his mind looks like a big room with a big shiny place in the middle. He called it for „spot”. The personalities are sitting or standing around this and waiting. The leader personality decides that, who can go to the spot and get touch with the world.
I tried to visualize this part with this ring form and the inside hole would be the „spot”. I polished this inner surfaces of the form carefully for that, these shiny surfaces can distort their forms in optical way. In my opinion it supposed to communicate the aspects of personality, that we can never know what is really happening inside. We can perceive only the surface clearly.
